The Cafeteria Catalyst Series is a dynamic, student-led event series hosted by the Groundbreakers Policy Coalition under the Nourish the Future Foundation. Each session spotlights the intersection of policy, culture, and community within school food systems — turning research into real-world conversations that move beyond the classroom.
Cafeteria Catalyst transforms student policy work into public dialogue. Groundbreakers present their policy proposals, community surveys, and advocacy projects while engaging educators, local leaders, and sustainability professionals in open discussion. The goal: to bridge data and dignity, highlighting how systemic change in cafeterias can ripple across entire communities.
Each event centers on a featured theme — from additive-free lunches to farm-to-school pipelines — and includes:
Student-led presentations of current research and policy prototypes
Panel conversations with practitioners and community experts
Interactive Q&A and collaborative solution-building
Lunch Without Shame: Restoring Dignity in School Meals
Additive-Free Districts: A Path Toward Safer School Lunches
Food Is Infrastructure: Rethinking School Cafeterias as Climate Solutions
